December 25, 2016
He is my hero for so many reasons but especially this year, 2016. Some years are harder than others and we get through them. This was one of those. He had two cleft related surgeries, one in July and a palate revision in December. It was Will’s 8th surgical procedure related to his cleft. Thankfully he will have no more for a long, long time. The high points of Will’s year were competing in gymnastics, winning 4 medals at the Wisconsin USAG Boys State Meet and a gold medal in floor exercise for a Level 4! He is considered one of the best in Wisconsin for his level. Now he’s moved up to a level 5 and the skills are harder and he’s mastering them. He just mastered a kip and is very proud.
Will looks older to me in these portraits. I can see the young man he will become and know in my heart this gifted, strong in mind and body, complex, kind, funny, and loving person will go far. I’m the lucky one that gets a front row seat to watch him. Happy Birthday William Michael Yousheng, you are 11!
Besides gymnastics, Will loves all things Batman, super hero movies, he loves to learn and reads 3-4 books a week, plays video games and he adores his big sister Grace.
